A substantial 183-acre farm is new to the market in Co Limerick — about 12km east of Newcastle West.

The holding is in the townland of Frankfort, near the village of Ballingarry. The property is in grass and comes with a collection of outbuildings, a two-storey house and another semi-derelict cottage.

“We’ve a good bit of interest in this farm,” said selling agent Richard Ryan of GVM’s Kilmallock office.

“It’s good fertile ground and operated as a dairy farm until about 15 years ago. It’s been in dry stock since.”

The farm is being offered for sale in its entirety, although the agent says the idea of breaking it into lots is not being completely ruled out, subject to what kind of interest develops over the coming weeks.

“The house is a two-storey farmhouse,” Mr Ryan said. “It’s a fine property and there’s a good range of outbuildings. By today’s standards, they’re somewhat dated but are useful nonetheless… In their time, they were state of the art.

“It’s a farm with a very good infrastructure… there’s a central roadway, everything is well-maintained and well-fenced.”

Accommodation in the house includes an entrance hall, living room, kitchen, bathrooms and four bedrooms.

The price expectation of €2m (€11,000/acre) is tempting value, particularly for someone thinking of setting up a dairying operation.
