Any respite the country gets from cold and frosty conditions on Friday will be brief, as the lifting of one low temperature warning on this afternoon will be followed by another later this evening.
A status yellow low temperature/ice warning for the entire country is currently in place. Between now and the time the warning lapses at 12pm, Met Éireann has said that temperatures will reach highs of 2C to 6C and while it will be a bright day, it will be "very cold".
From 5pm this evening, another status yellow low temperature/ice warning will come into effect nationwide, bringing further freezing cold conditions and widespread frost.
The forecaster advised motorists and pedestrians to take particular care during the warning as freezing fog and icy roads and footpaths are all expected. The warning will remain in place until midday on Saturday.

Friday, Met Éireann says, will be a "very cold and bright" day, with early morning frost and ice clearing gradually. There will also be some scattered showers, mainly in the north and west. Temperatures today will range between 2C and 6C.
By this evening, temperatures will have fallen back to between 0C and -4C, with a possibility of sleet or event snow in the northwest.
Met Éireann also says there will be "widespread sharp frost and icy patches" as well as mist and fog in some areas.
Saturday will be a similar day overall, with early morning ice and frost clearing slowly giving way to cold and dry conditions as the day progresses.
Like Friday, daytime temperatures tomorrow will range between 2C and 6C in light west to southwest breezes.
Tomorrow night will again be quite cold, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving in off the Atlantic. Temperatures on Saturday night will drop to between -3C and 2C.
Sunday will be cold but dry, with low cloud and mist likely to linger from the morning onwards. There is also a possibility of showers near the coasts.
Temperatures Sunday will be in the low single-digits: ranging between 1C and 5C in light northwesterly breezes.
Beyond the weekend, Met Éireann said current indications suggest that "wet and windy weather will spread over the south and east of the country early on Monday, with the possibility of scattered falls of sleet".
