The dates and venues for the 2024 Munster Hurling and Football Championship have been announced with the action set to get underway in April.

The fixtures were confirmed at a meeting of the Munster CCC on Wednesday evening and it is the footballers who are up first on Sunday the 7th of April.

The provincial competition will open with two quarter-finals as Waterford take on Tipperary at Fraher Field in Dungarvan while Cork welcome Limerick to Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The two semi-finals are set to be played on Saturday the 20th of April with Clare facing the winners of Waterford/ Tipperary at either Cusack Park in Ennis or Fraher Field while Munster champions Kerry await the victors of Cork/ Limerick with the last four clash being played at either Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney or the TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.

The Munster Football Final will be played on Sunday the 5th of May with the venue dependent on who will meet in the showpiece occasion.

As for the Munster Hurling Championship, that will begin on Sunday the 21st of April with two mouth-watering clashes.

There is a repeat of the 2022 and 2023 Munster Hurling finals on the opening day as Clare take on Limerick at Cusack Park in Ennis while Waterford will meet Cork at Walsh Park in Waterford on the same afternoon.

Cork and Limerick will play in front of a home crowd for the first time the following Sunday (the 28th of April) when they host Clare and Tipperary respectively while Round 3 sees Waterford host Tipperary at Walsh Park on Saturday the 4th of May before Cork battle the All Ireland Champions at Páirc Uí Chaoimh the next weekend (Saturday the 11th of May).

In Round 4 the Banner host the Déise in Ennis on the same day (Sunday the 19th of May) the Rebels finish their campaign against the Premier County at Semple Stadium in Thurles.

Finally the group stage will draw to a close on Sunday the 26th of May with Limerick coming up against Waterford at the Gaelic Grounds while Tipp take on Clare in Thurles.

The counties that finish first and second in the standings after those five rounds of matches will meet in the Munster Hurling Final on Sunday the 9th of June and similar to the football, the venue will be determined by who will contest the decider.

The throw-in times for all the Munster Hurling and Football Championship fixtures will be announced in due course.
