Two hospitalised in violent incident at pub following funeral of Brandon Ledwidge

Two men have been hospitalised with serious injuries following an assault at the reception of the funeral of Brandon Ledwidge on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old was shot dead in the front garden of his home on Barry Drive in Finglas, west Dublin on Saturday, November 18.

The young man was buried on Wednesday following his funeral mass at St. Canice’s church.

A violent incident broke out at the pub where the reception of the funeral was taking place.

Quarry Road in Cabra was sealed off by gardaí following the attack which resulted in the emergency services being called to the scene.

The funeral service heard that the victim was never one to be without a “big fat joint” and a “hammer in his pocket”.

Scramblers and bikers drove alongside the hearse which travelled through the village of Finglas.

In a statement, Gardai said they are “investigating an alleged incident of assault that occurred in the Dublin 7 area this evening Wednesday 29th November 2023 at approximately 8pm.

“Two males are currently receiving medical attention at the Mater Hospital with serious injuries.

“Investigations ongoing. No further information at this time”.
