Chantelle Cameron’s coach Jamie Moore has continued to take issue with the officiating of Saturday’s showdown, sharing footage of a pre-fight conversation on social media.
Taylor avenged her only pro defeat with a 98-92, 96-94 and 95-95 scorecard at the 3Arena to become a two-weight undisputed world champion.
Speaking to the
boxing podcast post-fight, Moore said the holding by Taylor was worse in the rematch, an issue their corner repeatedly shouted about during the bout."I'm gutted for her. She was so frustrated by the fourth and fifth rounds because (Taylor) was holding that much.
“From what I was watching, I know that if Chantelle was allowed to do the work that she can do on the inside, it would have been a different result."
On Wednesday, Moore shared footage from
YouTube video. His Instagram caption was, “Talking to the ref before the fight”.“I asked the referee three times to make sure she wasn’t holding all the time. Also, a lot of head clashes. She got a lot of damage from head clashes. I just ask you please to be visual and make sure there is not holding or head clashes,” Moore said in the video, with Cameron seated alongside him.
Meanwhile, Taylor has been given a December 5 deadline by the WBO to pick a weight class title to retain. Under their rules, she must pick the super lightweight (junior welterweight) or lightweight world belt.
"The foregoing contest was sanctioned subject to specific provisions," said WBO Championship Committee chairman Luis Batista-Salas in a letter published online.
"If Katie Taylor wins the bout against Cameron, she has up to 10 days thereafter to determine which weight division she will retain. Failure to comply with such conditions will result in the Committee proceeding per WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests.
"Consequently, in light of the foregoing, Katie Taylor must decide within the timeframe provided in the referenced provision which weight division she will retain, either the Lightweight or Jr. Welterweight division."
