Man arrested and cash seized by gardaí investigating the organisation of prostitution

During a follow-up search in the North County Dublin area, €11,060 in cash was seized along with 13 mobile phones and various documents.

A man in his 30s has been arrested by gardaí investigating prostitution in Dublin. 

Gardaí also seized cash, mobile phones and other items as part of an investigation conducted by the Organised Prostitution Investigation Unit of the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB).

The investigation is into people suspected of being involved in the organisation of prostitution, brothel-keeping and money-laundering in the greater Dublin area.

The man is being detained in a Dublin Garda station under organised crime legislation.

During a follow-up search in the North County Dublin area, €11,060 in cash was seized along with 13 mobile phones and various documents.

Assistance during this search and arrest operation was provided by the Garda Human Trafficking Investigation and Co-ordination Unit attached to the GNPSB.

The investigation is focused "on victim identification and intervention along with the dismantling of this transnational organised crime group through the removal and seizure of assets and the prosecution of members".

Investigations are ongoing, a statement added.
