Gardaí appeal for witnesses after young man, 20s, killed in Cork crash

Diversions are in place and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

A young man has died in an early morning road crash in Cork.

The incident occurred at Gortnalahee near Carrignavar, north of the city, at approximately 6.45am.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the driver and sole occupant of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road at Gortnalahee remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by garda forensic collision investigators.

Local diversions are likely to remain in place for several hours.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and who were travelling in the Gortnalahee area between 6.35am and 6.55am are asked to make this footage available to gardaí by contacting Gurranabraher Garda station on 021 4946200, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
