Sinead Kennedy has announced the arrival of her second child, a baby boy named Theo.

The Today Show presenter shared the news with her Instagram followers over the weekend, stating that her daughter is “especially chuffed” with her new baby brother.

The Ballincollig native previously said that while she would give birth in Ireland, she and her daughter Indie will travel to Brussels in the new year to be with husband Conor Kirwan.

"It means that Conor is not flying over and back, we're not exhausted and we can have proper family quality time together," she said at the time.

When announcing the news of the new arrival, Kennedy said the family has been in “a love bubble for the last while”.

“Our little baba has arrived safe and sound. Theo Will Kirwan has made our family complete. We’re all in love with the new man in our lives - Indie especially is chuffed with her little brother,” she said.

“We could not be more proud, grateful and happy.”

She went on to thank the staff at Cork University Maternity Hospital and all of those who helped to ensure Theo’s safe arrival.

Earlier this month, Kennedy presented her last Today Show alongside co-host Dáithí Ó Sé before heading on maternity leave.

The mother-of-two, who has worked in TV for 20 years, took the chance to look back on her career before heading off to “live another dream”.

“Where does the time go? This is already my 4th season on the show! It’s mad. I love working on it, no day is the same; the guests, regular contributors and viewers are fab and the team are a joy. The old adage is true, do something you love and you never work a day in your life,” she said in a post to Instagram.

Maura Derrane will take over hosting duties on a full-time basis until Kennedy returns to the RTÉ studio in Cork.
