It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Cork City as the iconic 30ft Ferris Wheel and carousel returns to the city this weekend as part of 'Corkmas.'
The new name for Christmas in Cork brought the usual Christmas lights to the city centre as well as a brand-new immersive light experience on Emmet Place called SOLAS.
The big wheel is set to open this Friday from noon until 9pm, and will stay in place until early January.
Meanwhile, as the city prepares for a busy Christmas shopping period, this weekend will see live music, festive entertainment and street performers take over the Corkmas Stage.
On Friday evening, musical group The Songstress Quarter is set to perform at Emmet Place from 6pm onwards.
The live music will then continue on Saturday with a Cork violin duo, Violini, set to take the stage between 5pm and 7pm.
An electronic music session from DJ Kelsey is expected later.
Stilt performers are expected to run around Emmet Place on Saturday and Sunday between 4pm and 7pm.
Sunday then is set to see a Kids Disco, with DJ Will Softly playing party and Christmas classics. All ages are welcome to the event.
The weekend will then come to a close with an Operatic Showcase concert with Jean Elliot, Dan Twomey, Kenneth Speight and Julie O'Neill Nicholson from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday.
Alongside entertainment, SOLAS, the interactive lighting and sound experience will remain open every day from 4pm to 11pm.
