The ieBusiness Podcast meets CEO of 4 Day Week Global Dr Dale Whelehan

In the 10th episode of The ieBusiness Podcast, CEO of 4 Day Week Global Dr Dale Whelehan talks to business journalist Cáit Caden.

Dr Dale Whelehan is the physio turned chief executive of a non-profit organisation that aims to promote healthier workplace practices and combat burn-out.

Through 4 Day Week Global, Mr Whelehan has helped launch trials with companies across the world to try and update the traditional working week.

“The world of work is not working for us at the moment,” Mr Whelehan said.

At the core of Mr Whelehan’s mission is “Parkinson’s Law”, which essentially suggests people will spread their work out to fill the allocated time, but they will work more effectively if the time frame is compressed.

In the latest episode of The ieBusiness Podcast, Mr Whelehan refutes claims by some industries that a four-day week would damage their businesses, how some companies' wellbeing offerings, like workplace yoga, actually damage morale, and how current workplace traditions contribute to poor mental health.

4 Day Week Global was founded in 2019 by Andrew Barnes and Charlotte Lockhart, and with Mr Whelehan at the helm as chief executive, the fast-growing advocacy body was named as a TIME100 Most Influential Company.

During The ieBusiness Podcast, in association with PwC, Mr Whelehan told business journalist Cáit Caden that he practices what he preaches by working a four-day week, which he admits at times is not easy.
