Hundreds of homes are due to build in Cork with a number of separate developers seeking planning permission to build in the county.

Colman New Homes (Blarney) Limited has unveiled plans seeking permission to develop some 162 residential units in Ballincollig.

The company has applied for permission for the large- scale residential development, which would be located off Maglin Road.

The proposed development would consist of 84 two-storey dwellings including 26 four-bedroom semi-detached homes, 28 3-bed semi-detached dwellings, 20 3-bed terraced dwellings and 10 two-bedroom terraced dwellings. It also contains 56 duplex units provided in six two to three- storey buildings comprising 23 two-bed units and 33 one-bed units, and one four- to five-storey apartment building consisting of 22 no. apartments (see separate Maglin story this page).

Access to the proposed development will be principally via the existing access road and entrance serving Cois Caisleán from Maglin Road, with additional connectivity provided via Maglin Grove.

The proposed development also provides for the continuation of the permitted pedestrian and cycle path in Cois Caisleán along the northern, western and southern perimeter of the site and two new pedestrian access points located on the northern and western boundaries.

East Cork homes

Plans have also been unveiled for a large residential development in East Cork.

Castle Rock Homes (Midleton) Ltd has submitted a planning application for some 272 new homes at Broomfield West in Midleton.

The plan, which also includes a creche, includes a range of site development works, including footpaths, car and bicycle parking, drainage, bin storage and landscaping and amenity works.

Access to the site will be via four new vehicle access points from the existing L7630 Broomfield Road, and a new pedestrian access point on Blossom Hill.

This is the latest in a series of large scale residential schemes for Midleton.

In addition to Castle Rock Homes, there are plans from Ingram Homes Limited to build 400 homes in Water Rock, while Glenveagh Homes has proposed 125 homes in Maple Woods, Ballincurra, Midleton.

Havenfalls Limited has also proposed 330 homes at Knockgriffin, and there is another plan from Glenveagh, this time for 270 homes in Castleredmond.

All these schemes are unrelated and are at various stages of the planning process.

A decision on the Broomfield West plan is due by the middle of January 2024.

Elsewhere Hazletip Ltd has sought permission to extend a planning application for almost 100 new houses in Rathcormac, Co Cork.

The developer is seeking permission to extend the duration of its planning permission for a site at Lisnagar Demesne in Rathcormac.

Granted in 2018, the permission includes 96 houses and associated works, including parking, footpaths, drainage and landscaping works.
