A FAIR bit of work went into this White’s Cross bungalow before the current owners bought it in 2016.
Built in 1984, Willowbank in Piercestown gained a sunroom and two attic rooms over the succeeding years. The sunroom brought an added dimension to the kitchen, as it opens into it, via double doors.
A door also opens into the garden from the west-facing sunroom. Roomy enough to accommodate a dining table and lounge area, it is, as you might expect, a light-filled space, encased by glazed walls.
The kitchen is fine and bright in its own right, and has French doors to an outdoor deck, which was put to good use for entertaining and barbequing.
A spacious living room overlooks the front garden.
Additional downstairs accommodation includes three double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The main bedroom has an en suite and a walk-in wardrobe.
Most of the upper floor is given over to the two large attic rooms, but handily, there's a WC too. The selling agent, Pat Fenton of Sherry FitzGerald, says the attic rooms would “be ideal” as home offices. However a detached rear garden offers this option too, if you prefer the idea of using the attic rooms as a teen den/playroom/gym or for storage.
The vendors of Willowbank made some improvements to Willowbank too in the seven years since they bought it, modernising by changing doors, the kitchen and the stairs. They also added the deck in the north-facing rear garden, which is bounded by mature trees and shrubs. Total site size is about 0.6 acres, with lots of parking out front.
Mr Fenton says it’s “a fine bungalow, just under 2,000 sq ft, with a good balance of living and bedroom accommodation and a fully-enclosed rear garden”.
“It's just come to market, but I’m seeing good interest already, families from the surrounding areas, all looking to trade up,” he says.
The guide price is €395,000, which should also attract first time buyers.
Looks s bit dated externally, but in good shape indoors. Solid family home less than 20 minutes by car from Cork City centre. Less than 10 minute drive from Ballyvolane shopping centre.
