TrustDish and Fash Foward scoop accolades at UCC's Ignite awards for start-ups

TrustDish, an allergen management system for people dining out, and sustainable fashion firm Fash Forward scooped accolades at UCC’s annual Ignite Awards.
Shannen O’Reilly of TrustDish won the Bank of Ireland Investor Pathway Award while Ailis Crowley of Fash Forward, which works with a network of sustainable brands to host sustainability workshops on repair and upcycling, won the Local Enterprise Office Revenue Pathway Award.
The winners were among six early-stage companies that pitched their businesses to an audience of entrepreneurs, business owners and investors as part of the Ignite programme.
The other participants were carpooling platform MobyShare, EV battery disposal company Volta Robotics, digital marketing service BlueDawn Agency that helps business owners grow their e-commerce platforms and Barbora Coaching, which hosts coaching sessions to better individuals' wellbeing.
The Ignite programme has worked with 170 start-ups over the last 12 years and these companies have created more than 370 jobs.
The judging panel included Aileen Broderick, manager at Bank of Ireland, Larry O’Donoghue, CEO at CorkBIC and head of enterprise at Local Enterprise Office in Cork City, Dr Niall O’Keeffe.
Ignite was founded in 2011 and is a joint initiative by Cork City Council, Cork County Council, the Local Enterprise Offices in Cork City and County and UCC to encourage entrepreneurship and start-up creation.
Companies that have participated in the programme in the past include agri-tech company, ApisProtect, that looks after bee health and sport publication Pundit Arena.
“This has been a very busy year for past and present participants on the Ignite programme. We are especially proud of the numerous awards that have been won by programme alumni,” said Ignite director Eamon Curtin.
