Law firm RDJ has completed its relocation to its new headquarters on Cork's South Mall, just over a decade after it departed.

In March 2013, the company took up significant office space in the new City Gate Park development in Mahon built by developer John Cleary to meet the needs of its growing business. Today, the firm has 270 employees located across Cork, Dublin and Galway.

In 2019, John Cleary completed the development of 85 South Mall, a 45,000 sq ft Gold LEED office block that was the first major development on the street in a generation. It was viewed as a significant boost for the heart of the city and the Mall which has long been viewed as the city's financial headquarters.

Earlier this year, RDJ confirmed plans to move back to the city taking up spaces in the new development. The move sees a departure from traditional cellular offices for the 170-strong Cork team, to a fully open plan design, with no private offices.

"Collaboration among employees will be enhanced in the flexible space with designated meeting hubs for teams to meet and work with each other and clients," the company said.

RDJ Managing Partner Jamie Olden said: "The move to 85 South Mall in Cork city centre re-inforces our commitment to sustainability and people—both our employees and clients, and the firm’s values of openness and inclusivity."

"Our first open plan office opened in Dublin in 2018 has been a tremendous success. During that time, I was in charge of the Dublin office and I am using my own experience and that of our Dublin-based colleagues to guide this move.

"As a future-looking team, we are very excited about the move and the increased opportunities to collaborate and work together in ways we may not have done in the old space.”

As a recently completed development, 85 South Mall includes a range of sustainable features including rainwater harvesting, solar reflective energy efficient glazing, renewable heat pump technology and intelligent LED lighting systems, along with access to sustainable modes of transport.

RDJ has also achieved Investors in Diversity Silver Standard by The Irish Centre for Diversity. The accreditation recognises their commitment to embedding diversity and inclusion within the firm.

The law firm has also been recognised as leaders in workplace wellbeing by Ibec, as well as earning the KeepWell Mark and being listed in Leading in Wellbeing Top 100 Companies 2023.
