Pádraig Harrington hit a stunning 64 to win the TimberTech Championship in Florida by seven shots from Bernhard Langer and Charlie Wi. It's the Dubliner's sixth PGA Tour Champions win and second of the season.
After birdieing six of the first seven holes on The Old Course at Broken Sound, Harrington admitted he had a felt a sub-60 round could be on, though feels he "hit a wall" the moment he let that thought enter his mind.
"I made plenty of birdies but I struggled in the middle of the round every day so it was nice to get that start. I tried to keep riding it to be honest and on number eight I nearly holed for birdie to go seven under and I was working out in my head, 'This is par 71, you only need to make 12 and that would be a 59’.
"How hard is it to shoot 59 like? I just hit a wall then.”
Harrington still played the back nine in two-under, claiming his ninth birdie on the 18th to finish on 16-under, earning $350,000.
