The Majority Fitzwilliam 3 is a smart internet radio tuner and music system that combines various features to deliver a comprehensive audio experience. From its intuitive remote control to its seamless app support, the Fitzwilliam 3 is designed to cater to music and radio enthusiasts looking for versatility and ease of use.

Design and Functions

The Fitzwilliam 3 includes QR codes for accessing the manual electronically, a thoughtful approach that aligns with eco-conscious efforts to reduce paper waste. The remote control provided with the device is well-designed and provides easy access to all the main components and features of the Fitzwilliam 3. The well-thought-out button layout simplifies navigation and ensures a seamless user experience. For instance, pressing the menu while listening to a radio channel seamlessly takes you to your station list. I love the info button, which shows information on the device's colour display, such as the current bit rate, audio codec, sampling rate and buffer status. The remote gives easy access to essential functions such as EQ settings, alarm settings, and sleep mode.

Of course, the Fitzwilliam 3 doesn't limit you to using the remote control exclusively. The device's front panel includes an array of buttons and dials, providing additional control options. These include mode, info, menu, scan, stop track, skipping presets, and back. The select scroll wheel is a standout feature, which simplifies scrolling through various options and settings. The large volume dial serves a dual purpose, allowing you to adjust the volume and act as a power button when pushed.

Connectivity and inputs

In terms of connectivity and flexibility, the Fitzwilliam 3 doesn't disappoint. Alongside the main controls and the user-friendly screen, you'll find a 3.5mm headphone output, offering personal listening convenience. Additionally, the device is equipped with a USB-A output, a valuable feature for playing audio files from a memory stick, providing an additional music playback source.

Around the back of the Fitzwilliam 3, an assortment of ports and connections cater to different setup options. A wireless LAN antenna ensures you can connect seamlessly to the internet, while stereo RAC outputs for left and right channels facilitate integration with various audio systems. Furthermore, an analogue 3.5mm audio input and optical and coaxial digital outputs are available, offering a wide range of connectivity choices.

For radio enthusiasts, the Fitzwilliam 3 includes a telescopic antenna designed for DAB and FM radio reception, ensuring a clear and stable connection for your radio listening. However, it's important to note that DAB radio may not be available in all regions, such as Ireland.

Setup and In-Use

One of the Fitzwilliam 3's strong suits is its adaptability to various audio setups. This makes it an ideal choice for those who want to enhance their existing Hi-Fi systems with smart internet features. I connected the Fitzwilliam 3 to my old amplifier and tower speakers during testing, highlighting its compatibility with diverse audio configurations.

Notably, the Fitzwilliam 3 features Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to connect it to other speakers. However, it's worth mentioning that the device does not have built-in speakers. Therefore, while Bluetooth connectivity is a valuable addition, it's essential to consider your specific audio setup and whether you have external speakers to pair with the Fitzwilliam 3.

Software support

Regarding applications, the Fitzwilliam 3 provides access to popular services like Spotify and Podcasts. Spotify integration is seamless, allowing you to enjoy your music directly using either the remote control or the controls on the front panel. This level of integration enhances the convenience of music streaming, making it easy to navigate your playlists and discover new tracks.

The inclusion of Podcasts as an application is another thoughtful feature. With Podcasts, you can explore a wide range of podcasts, including those popular in your region. The app offers a user-friendly interface for searching and discovering podcasts, providing a comprehensive podcast experience right from your Fitzwilliam 3.

The Fitzwilliam 3 accommodates users who prefer to listen to their own music, whether stored on a smartphone or from a different streaming service. The device supports Bluetooth audio transmission, allowing you to play music through the Fitzwilliam 3 and enjoy it through your connected speakers or headphones.

App control

The Undok app lets you control the Fitzwilliam 3 directly from your iOS or Android smart device. This capability extends remote control functionality, enabling you to navigate between audio modes, browse content, and adjust playback volume on the Fitzwilliam 3.

While the Fitzwilliam 3's remote control works exceptionally well, I preferred using the Undok app for managing my favourite podcasts and radio stations. The app makes saving your preferred slots for podcasts and stations easy, allowing you to access your favourites with just a few taps on your smart device.

Verdict

The Majority Fitzwilliam 3 combines a user-friendly remote control, versatile connectivity options, and robust app support to create a comprehensive music system. Its adaptability makes it an excellent choice for enhancing your existing audio setup or connecting to external speakers. Whether you're enjoying your music collection, streaming from popular platforms, or exploring podcasts, the Fitzwilliam 3 offers a delightful audio experience with the flexibility to match your preferences.
