Global food and beverage company PepsiCo continued its expansion into Cork with a further €39m investment into its facility on Little Island.
This latest cash injection followed a €127m investment in the same site and the adjacent research and development facilities earlier this year.
The investment will go towards a major solar PV solar panel installation at the facility, which will significantly reduce the amount of electricity consumed at the site. The installation is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The company first established a presence in Ireland 50 years ago and employs more than 2,500 people.
However, the company is trying to hire more amid a tight labour market and a chronic skills shortage. The Pepsi and 7Up drinks maker said it currently has approximately 100 vacancies in Cork.
