Boston Scientific has acquired a long-vacant facility within the IDA Business Park on Cork's Model Farm Road, which it will use to consolidate specific processes and streamline its operations in Cork.
The medical technology company already has significant operations in the business park and has confirmed the purchase of the former 'Logitech' building, which it said would enhance Boston Scientific's operational capabilities and support the company's growth in the region.
The 45,000sq ft building is situated a short distance from the company's existing site. Since its establishment at the Model Farm Road site in 1997, Boston Scientific has expanded significantly.
The company's workforce has doubled to more than 1,700 people in the last five years.
It identified the opportunity to acquire the long-vacant 'Logitech' building, which has remained unoccupied for two decades to enable Boston Scientific to consolidate specific processes into a single location and streamline operations.
A planning application will be submitted to Cork City Council in the coming months. The renovation project will focus primarily on reconfiguring the interior of the building, with no alterations to the building's height or shape.
The company said the strategic move reaffirms its commitment to the Cork community and its mission to provide medical solutions to patients worldwide.
