105-acre top quality land in Cobh has widespread appeal

The 80-acre Lot 1 overlooking Cork Harbour from Great Island, Cobh.

There is considerable interest from the locality and beyond in the 105 acres of farmland that was attached to the waterside Cuskinny House Estate in Cobh, Co Cork.

The property is just east of the attractive Heritage Town of Cobh – a large green holding with a wonderful aspect facing south and casting views over Cork Harbour, with its constantly active waterways where vessels of all types and sizes move in and out of the seascape.

The property is listed jointly with international agents Knight Frank and Fermoy-based estate agent Michael Daniels.

According to Guy Craigie of Knight Frank’s Dublin office, many of the enquiries are coming from farmers nearby, with almost all of them from the greater Munster area.

The lands for sale are presented in two lots, both of which feature good quality land in a part of Munster with plenty of intensive agricultural activity.

Lot 1 comprises 80 acres of tillage land with a farmyard, while Lot 2 comprises 25 acres of pasture.

The other attractive aspect of the lots is that they hold some potential for building a home; meaning that there is interest from the non-farming sector as well as from farmers.

“We have 105 acres, which can be purchased either individually or together,” says Guy.

“Both have derelict houses on them so there is the possibility of someone being able to get planning permission for a house, subject to local needs… and certainly the bigger of the two lots has really magnificent views over Cork Harbour.”

The lands, he says, are all of very good quality and are currently being farmed by tenants.

“The interest has been very good and we’ve had a mixture of interested parties,” says Guy.

“We’ve had people looking at it for a solar farm, as well as people looking to build their own house on the land and farm it.”

For the 80-acre parcel, there is a price guide of €1,500,000 (€18,750/acre), while the 25-acre section has a guide of €500,000 (€20,000/acre).
