HEALTHCARE providers are likely to feature in the mix of potential buyers for a former Permanent TSB premises in Bishoptown, on the market for €975,000.

The two-storey 317 sq m (3,417 sq ft ) premises is in an area with a heavy concentration of healthcare facilities including Cork University Hospital (CUH) campus in nearby Wilton and Marymount University Hospital and Hospice in Curraheen. CUH also has plans for a new outpatient campus in Curraheen, as it tries to free up space for more building work on its main Wilton campus. It's hoping to see patients at the new outpatient unit early in 2024. 

Given the pressure on space at CUH, the nearby former bank building at No 1 Curraheen Road could prove attractive, as it’s on 0.7 acres and has a generous amount of parking.

The site, with 120 feet of frontage onto Curraheen Road, is in an area zoned ‘Neighbourhood and Local Centres’ in the new Cork City Development plan. In an established commercial and residential area, it’s within a short walk of CUH and Wilton Shopping Centre. UCC and Munster Technological Institute are also close by – which could make it attractive to third level educators.

Selling No 1 Curraheen Road are Lisney agents Margaret Kelleher and Johnny McKenna and they say there are “few opportunities to acquire a property such as this, situated in this area, on its own site”.

“We expect strong interest in the property given its strategic location, potential for a variety of uses in its current form and future development potential. We are guiding the property at €975,000,” the agents said.

The high profile purpose-built office building is opposite the Bishopstown Bar and 4km southwest of Cork City, with easy access to the South Ring Road network.
